Ghoulish fun...

Ghoulish fun...

Ghosts, witches, goblins and devils are your typical costume fare, but anything goes on this dark night of spirits and revelling.

Whether you want to be a naughty nurse, a sinister sergeant or a cross-dressing princess, a local alternative lifestyle shop probably has what you're looking for.

B&D Emporium, which is located at 101 11745 Jasper Ave., sells fetish and custom clothing for "the darker side of life."

Their local in-house dressmakers, the Stitch Witches, have been busy finishing up this year's Halloween costume orders.

"We just designed a costume with 10-foot removable wings," says sorcerer-seamstress Brandy McIsaac.

While it's too late to put in an order for this Halloween, there is a wide selection of ready-to-wear outfits in the shop.

Get a PVC goth girl dress for $100 with a bat mask, for another $40, or his and hers military-style outfit, for between $150 and $200 each.

"Uniforms have always had a lot of sex appeal," says shop owner Stephen Hoslie, who will don fishnet stay-ups, silver shoes and a pink tutu for his Halloween get-up as "Princess Stevie."

He says Oct. 31 is a good excuse for men and women to play around with their identities, and adopt a different persona for one night.

Some of their women's clothing comes in men's sizes for the veteran and experimental cross-dressers among us.

"A lot of gay men do it because it's part of their culture, but a lot of straight guys do it at Halloween because they can get away with it," says Hoslie.
