When Lloyd Wingate isn't overseeing the transformation of the Amathole Museum in King William's Town, he might be found chasing after bats. Wingate, the museum's director, is a zoologist specialising in small mammals, especially bats, and says he works in the most interesting place in town. King William's Town. I've been here for 24 years. I was born in Pretoria and spent my first 24 years in the area. Before moving to King, I lived in Mthatha for three years. The Rolling Stones - Forty Licks; Soweto String Quartet - Millennia; and The Best of Sting. Kidd's Beach, Chintsa and Cefane - I love the Eastern Cape. Mind the gap - own your past, know your generation, choose your future, by Graeme Codrington and Sue Grant-Marshall. It's fascinating as it explains why the different generations are like they are and helps those in the different generations understand one another. Cinderella Man was good. My favourite movie for all time is Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. I first saw it in 1975 during a very emotional time in my life and it had a profound effect on me. When I see it again it still moves me. When I first arrived here I was struck by the beauty of the town - beautiful buildings and surroundings. Who, apart from your family, would you like to take there for a meal? Tourists, so that I can tell them about our town and this area in general. I would get the town's pavements cleaned up and nicely paved, so it's safe and easy for pedestrians to walk. I would activate the traffic police to have a long blitz on those who break the traffic laws, especially those who jump red robots and stop-streets, so that our town becomes safer. Live a good life and try to influence others to do the same. The Sun building on the corner of Alexandra and Cathcart Streets - it's very beautiful. anthropological and zoological displays and information that you could not find anywhere else. Come and visit the Amathole Museum. You will be impressed. I have a Mazda Etude which is very reliable and relatively economical. However if where I am going is close I love to walk. Three to five minutes by car, or nine to 10 minutes if I walk. Joe Nongogo, the chairman of the museum's Board of Trustees - he really cares for the community and has their interests and the museum's interests at heart; and Gerry Gericke and Johann Loubser, who are really doing good things at Kingsridge High School for girls, where both my daughters are at school.
