A Clovis baby-sitter was sentenced Monday to 23 years in prison for sexually assaulting two children, according to a press release from 9th Judicial District Attorney Matt Chandler.

Ansenio Roybal, 21, was convicted of five counts of criminal sexual contact with a minor and one count of criminal sexual penetration of a minor. He was convicted by a Curry County jury.

The victims were two females under the age of 10, the press release said. The children told their mother Roybal sexually assaulted them on numerous occasions, according to the press release.

Chandler said Roybal must serve 85 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for parole. He must register as a sex offender and always inform the federal government where he is after release from prison, the release said.

A bouncer who was shot late Saturday night at Prince Street Lounge was pronounced Monday as in stable condition in a Lubbock hospital, said Lt. James Schoeffel of the Clovis Police Department.

Grant Cozine, 27, was shot in the abdomen inside the night club shortly before midnight. He was attempting to escort the suspect out of the building after the fight, said a CPD press release.

A security videotape from the night club indicated the shooter left the building with the firearm, said a police report.

A New Mexico State Police officer chased a suspect down Eighth street, where he met up with a Clovis police officer and relayed identifying information including the person's name and a description of clothing, according to the police report.

Police have several possible suspects identified as the shooter, and the case is under investigation, according to the press release.

Various roads will be closed from four to five hours, and detours will be necessary in November due to joint city and county Office of Emergency Management operation.

The office will perform a full-scale Hazardous Materials and Weapons of Mass Destruction exercise on an undisclosed day in November, according to an Office of Emergency Management press release.
